Review highlights from Community Health Centres: Acting Today,Shaping Tomorrow

At an international conference held in Toronto June 9^th and 10^th, policymakers, politicians and  healthcare leaders from around the world shared their ideas on how to improve health and increase the sustainability of healthcare systems by enabling many more people to access the Community Health Centre model of care.

Experts like Dr. Ben Chan of Health Quality Ontario and Dr. George Rust of the Morehouse School of Medicine (USA), pointed to the crucial role Community Health Centres can play in improving quality of care and reducing health inequities. 

Canadian leaders, such as Roy Romanow who led a Royal Commission on health care and Libby Davies, Canada’s new NDP health critic, called for a national strategy to promote a network of Community Health Centres across the country.
